Installation & Safety Guidance

Approved use
The Lindam Numi is a wall-mounted (screw-fit) safety gate. Per Lindam's manufacturer instructions, wall-mounted gates are the approved and recommended type for use at the top of stairs, where a pressure-fit gate is not safe. Do not use a pressure-fit gate at the top of stairs.

Measuring your opening
The gate fits openings from 66cm to 101cm wide without an extension. Measure the width of your doorway or stairway opening at the narrowest point before purchasing. If your opening exceeds 101cm, an extension panel (sold separately) is required to achieve a secure, gap-free fit.

When an extension is needed
If the gap between the gate and the wall exceeds the adjustment range of the wall brackets, fit a compatible Lindam extension. Installing the gate without an appropriate extension in an oversized opening can compromise security — always verify the gate is firmly latched and does not flex or shift after installation.

Wall bracket mounting
The Numi mounts via a slim wall bracket system supplied in the box. Follow the step-by-step instructions included with the gate to locate studs or use appropriate wall anchors for your wall type (plasterboard, masonry, timber). The brackets must be secured into a solid surface capable of bearing load. Check all fixings for tightness before first use and periodically thereafter.

Installation location
Install the gate at the intended opening only. At stair tops, ensure the gate opens away from the stairs so it cannot swing out over the steps. Confirm the gate is level and the latch engages fully on both sides before allowing unsupervised use. Always read and retain the full manufacturer's instruction booklet supplied with the product.
